If you are looking for someone (or someones!) to take on all the cheap dates, I’ve got the event for you!
Now, I’ve never actually done speed dating, but this version sounds a little better than the typically portrayed “awkward people in a bar” version. Speed dating at a museum? I like it!
There are two events to choose from – on June 19th, it will aimed at those who identify as straight. On June 26th it will be aimed at those who identify as GLBTQ. I like the emphasis on both “friending” and “dating!”

FutureLabs, Playing the Field
Playing the Field is a science informed speed friending and dating event. We’ll provide series of fun activities that will help you get the ball rolling to embark on the friend-posal or date-venture of your dreams.
6:00 PM: Sign up, get a name tag, and a number will be assigned to you. If both you and a partner indicate on a sheet that you like each other, we’ll match you after the event!
6:15-6:30 PM: Relationship scientist Yuthika Girme from the University of Auckland will be joining us to provide an illuminating primer on initial attraction and speed dating.
6:30-7 PM: Speed friending round!
7:15 PM: Romance Remix sign up- participants from the previous round + new participants are invited to join in this round
7:30-8 PM: Romance Remix round
